Pre-Employment/Work Orientation

The Pre-Employment program allows students to learn their core academics of Math, English, Socials and Science in a modified form and in a small group setting of up to 10 students. Students also participate in electives in the general classroom. The majority of students in the Program have mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. The focus of the program includes building functional literacy and math skills that will aid students in enrolling in College programs geared to their strengths and needs and/or pursuing employment after high school. Students who are 16 years or older have the opportunity to participate in work experiences in the community to build their employment skills. Parents and students meet with the Pre-Employment teacher at the start of each year to create an Individual Education Plan (IEP), which includes academic, life skill and transition goals that students will be supported in achieving throughout the year.
