Welcome to Burnaby Central Secondary School.

We are pleased to announce that we are proceeding with a capital replacement project for Burnaby Central Secondary School. Construction is anticipated to begin in August 2009 and will be completed in three phases.  Total completion is expected by the summer of 2012. As this project progresses we will be keeping the school community and our neighbours informed as to what can be expected. Please check our "School Replacement" page in the navigation bar on the left for updates.

Burnaby Central serves the growing Central Valley region of Burnaby and currently enrolls over 1300 students.  Originally built in 1958 the school has undergone a number of significant renovations. It includes the school district’s only running track as well as excellent facilities for music, drama, automotive technology, physical education, information technology, photography, and technical education.

The semestered organization of the school has been able to meet a number of students’ needs as well as allow for the development of specific kinds of programs, such as the AVPA (Athletic and Visual & Performing Arts) Program, PASS (Play Active School Soccer – soccer academy), and ACE-IT Chef’s Training Program.

A particular strength of Burnaby Central is the high level of involvement of its students, staff and parents in areas outside of the classroom. Some of the extracurricular activities being offered include badminton, basketball, field hockey, football, soccer, skiing, swimming, track & field, volleyball, wrestling, student government, global awareness, music performances, drama productions, dance teams, and community service opportunities. Central’s diverse programming, excellent staff, and motivated students make our school an exciting place to learn.
